If
this is your first visit to me, click
here to open my intake form. Some people find it easier
to fill out the form before they get here. To avoid confusion,
please take the time to read through the information that follows.
If you've not had a massage before, let me go
through some of the basic questions that most people have.
What will happen?
When you arrive, we'll chat a few minutes. I'll review your form
(link to it is above) and ask any questions I might have. That's
a time you can ask any questions I don't cover here. I'll show
you to the massage room and the rest room. Once in the massage
room, you will disrobe to whatever level you are comfortable.
Your modesty and privacy are preserved at all times during the
treatment. Only the body parts I'm working on are uncovered.
Some people are comfortable in the nude under the sheets and
others leave on their undergarments or wear loose shorts. I'll give you a couple
minutes to get ready and will ask permission before entering
the room.
Regardless of which massage you've requested, you should let me know if you have any particularly tense
or sore areas, so I can work on them or avoid them, as you wish. Anytime in the massage, you can ask me
to avoid a particular
area or work deeper on a muscle.
When I'm done, I'll let you know (or wake up up) and leave the
room while you get dressed.
How long a massage do I want?
Most people opt for an hour unless they are pressed for time or
in a debilitated physical condition. One hour gives me time to
give a good massage to all areas of the body. An hour and a half just gives more time to focus on each muscle or on your problem areas. You
might think it's only your
neck that hurts but generally pain can be traced to a different
area of the body so a complete body massage is recommended. If
you're in doubt if you should have a massage due to some physical
problem, consult with
your physician first.
Is it good for me to have a massage?
A relaxation massage is good for most people. If you have a health
condition or concern, you should check with your physician before
scheduling the massage. If you're feeling ill, massage isn't
generally a good idea. If you think that massage will be good
for a medical condition, check with your physician before scheduling
an appointment. The depth
of the massage is adjusted
based on
your preference.
An
athlete might prefer a much deeper massage than an inactive
elderly person but massage can benefit both.
Any other questions?
